Meet the...
Community Outreach Committee (COC)
Mission Statement
Through the acts of goodwill and charity, the Community Outreach Committee (COC) supports the SDSA in its efforts to promote education and the invaluable contributions of the set decorator's craft.
Activities
The COC raises funds for education and local charities through annual events,
and maintains the Decorator Fund extending sympathy and other assistance
to our members through difficult times.
COC Art Auction
Held each year at the SDSA Award Luncheon, members donate
their own works of art, with proceeds benefiting charity. To date, LA GOAL and Inner City Arts have been the beneficiaries,
as they meet the criteria of the mission statement.
SDSA COC Spark of Love Toy Drive
The SDSA annually supports the L.A. Fire Department by collecting
new toys and sporting goods which are then distributed to a child
who might otherwise go without any gift during the holiday season.
The COC festively decorates collection boxes that are positioned at studio
and business member locations, and then collects and delivers the donations
to the Fire Department.
Leslie Frankenheimer Scholarship
Since its inception four years ago, the scholarships have been
graciously underwritten by SDSA Business Members
Faux Library Studio Props and Lennie Marvin Propheaven.

The 4th Annual Leslie Frankenheimer
Leukemia Fund Walk/Run for a Cure
It's time for the Annual Leslie Frankenheimer Walk/Run for a Cure!
On July 30th at 6:45am, the troops will gather on PCH to walk/run in memory of
Leslie Frankenheimer and her brave fight against leukemia.
Join in! Mara Spear, Barbara Cassel SDSA, Beverly Hadley SDSA, Erin Frankenheimer
We walk/run to help save the lives of anyone battling this disease that took Leslie
away from us too soon. And we walk/run for all families and people
who have been affected by leukemia or cancer of any kind.
We are determined to keep fundraising to fund the critical
life-saving leukemia research being done at City of Hope.
Leslie was the Co-Chair Emeritus of the COC, and in her honor,
if you would like to donate but can't walk, a member of the COC will walk for you!
