Day with the Set Decorator presented the gutsiest event to date, visiting with
Set Decorator Gia Grosso SDSA and her crew at THE WALKING DEAD!
Attendees from all over the U.S., as well as from Brazil, Holland, Chili and Germany
were treated to a very special behind-the-scenes look and tour of
"How they do what they do" with Gia and her crew
Set Decorator Gia Grosso SDSA
took us inside the world of Set Decoration and all things Walking Dead!
Leadman Kenneth Nelson walked us through weapons,
Gang Boss Shawn Upthegrove got straight to the blood and guts of the show and
Buyer Bethany Arriagada demonstrated how to best make 1,800 fish in a hurry!
Gia decorates a set with curated objects as Shawn decorates with blood!
We tagged along as Gia shopped for the show at Kelly & Company Antiques

General Membership Meeting March 18th, 2020

The March GMM took place the day after St. Patrick's Day with the apropos theme of... "The Cure for your St. Patrick's Day Hangover"
This 'traveling' meeting kicked-off in New York with Jake Baer introducing his new venture 1 Rent Place, an online marketplace of luxury design dealers from all over the US and Canada. Jake offered up his best hangover cure and a raffle prize.
Next we headed south to Fayetteville, GA where Kelly Batcho greeted us at Kelly & Company Antiques. Kelly had quite the list of hangover cures and brought us, along with Set Decorator Gia Grosso SDSA, on a tour of her shop, showing off some of the finds currently available, and another raffle prize.
Staying in the south, we hopped over to East Point, GA and caught up with Don and Geraldine Kaeding at Technical Props, the one-stop shop for all of your scientific lab and medical set needs. Tech Props relocated from Los Angeles during the COVID shutdown and Gerri showed us every inch of their new space! Don offered up an animated Irish jig along with a list of hangover remedies and helped Gerri to give away several raffle prizes.
"I'm leaving on a jet plane"... literally! Andrew Gaddis from Air Sky Store then took us across the country to California from inside their Boeing 737 Main Cabin standing set, showing off all of the amenities and features of this aircraft and store. Andrew served up a little 'hair of the dog" on his airline cart, gave us a look at their Executive Jet set and offered up a raffle prize as well!
SDSA President Laura Richarz and Executive Director Gene Cane delivered the 'business' portion of our meeting, updating everyone on the success of the most recent 'Day With the Set Decorator' event, sharing the nominees for the SDSA Awards - Film 2020, and welcoming the newest members to the SDSA.

Did you know Propcart.com founder Richard Scotten has been living in prop houses for the past year?

Our jobs have become so difficult that banding together feels like a family where we can seek guidance, learn how someone with more experience handles certain

Attending meetings also makes me feel like a grown-up and that I’m not alone.
