Our Beginnings and Founders
In 1996, Rob Karlin started the precursor to Los Angeles Funeral Service, a casket retailer called California Casket Company. This was basically in response to a Federal law called the Funeral Rule, which said that families could buy a casket from any source, not just the funeral home and there could not be any extra charge or penalty imposed by the funeral home on the family. This essentially broke their monopoly.
Ten years later, it now makes sense to provide funeral services along with funeral goods.
Rob Karlin brings 10 years of experience in the funeral industry along with 30 years in the banking and mortgage fields. He has been a licensed funeral director in California since 2001.
Richard Butcher has over 40 years of experience as a funeral director, embalmer and owner of funeral homes and crematories.
