We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of longtime SDSA Set Decorator Member and Business Member Marc E. Meyer, Jr., on July 6, 2025.
Born in Michigan, Marc began working at a florist shop in NYC, then decided Los Angeles was the place for him. Landing with a prestigious Beverly Hills florist was the steppingstone to Walter Allen, a greens house supplying film and television productions with flora for sets.
Through connections made, Marc quickly became a leadman for various established Set Decorators. His talent and drive that brought him this far, in time, propelled him to full Set Decorator status in both television and film.
Marc was particularly proud of his work on the movie XANADU with Olivia Newton-John. His impressive career spanned many shows, including High Incident, Hotel, 2000 Malibu Road, Ferris Bueller, Models, Inc., and Thea.
He founded Faux Library Studio Props, Inc. after designing lightweight books filled with lightweight foam. Always a caring and generous man, seeing his crew struggle with boxes of real books, he began cutting out pages and replacing with light weight foam, leaving the spine and cover. Faux Library Studio Props was born and grew to become a full-service prop house.
Marc was awarded the Earl Cooperman Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018 and was a constant supporter of the SDSA, a contributor to the SDSA’s Leslie Frankenheimer Scholarship and to multiple SDSA Events.
Marc was known for his kindness and friendliness, always making decorators, shoppers, and designers look good.
Memorial gatherings or services are pending.
