Poker Face is a mystery-of-the-week series following Natasha Lyonne’s Charlie Cole, who has an extraordinary ability to determine when someone is lying. She hits the road with her Plymouth Barracuda and with every stop encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can’t help but solve.--Peacock
It’s true! POKER FACE has a completely new setting for each episode. There’s no such thing as a permanent set, as most shows have, that gives the audience an instant familiarity
So, we get to journey with her…a ride along!
And you can watch this new Inside the Set with SETDECOR video conversation with Set Decorator Cathy T. Marshall SDSA, Production Designer Judy Rhee and host Assistant Set Decorator Karen Agresti SDSA...about how this all comes together!
Cathy points out, “Each episode is unique in its approach, as well as story, setting and sets.” Thus, there are two Set Decorators, each taking a full episode, one prepping while the other is shooting & prepping for their next: Cathy T. Marshall SDSA and Heather Loeffler. Each has an Assistant Set Decorator – Karen, our host for the video above, was Cathy’s! They share a clearance department and a set dressing crew of 30-40 Set Dressers, and have 1-2 Buyers for each episode.
Karen says, “I was impressed by the generosity between the two set dec teams. It’s very collaborative and works wonderfully.” Cathy agrees and includes the whole production team in appreciation of their collaborative spirit and ability to pivot!
The series star and producer, Natasha Lyonne, wrote and directed the “Last Looks” episode, which opens with a movie-within-a-movie – a Sci-Fi send-off being filmed in a Southern funeral home! So let’s take a look there, and don't forget to click on the video above, because there’s so much more insider details and sets to discover!

Judy, Cathy and their teams had to marry two locations plus 2 stage builds, to make the setting of this marvelous Southern funeral parlor seamless.

The Crematorium, furnace and the Embalming room were stage builds because of pyrotechnics. Cathy says it was fascinating to do sets with pyros "Very challenging, but fun!" Courtesy of Peacock.
And here's a glimpse at sets for another episode they explore in the video, "Sloppy Joseph". Intrinsically different from the episode before and the one to come! Courtesy of Peacock.
And Bonus! Yet another episode..."Hometown Hero". Who wouldn't want to see the Cheesemongers team?!! Complete with a mascot with a belly for every player to rub, and a bar that has cheese graters for lampshades!
