"SEND HELP is a survival horror thriller about two colleagues who become stranded on a deserted island, the only survivors of a plane crash.
On the island, they must overcome past grievances and work together to survive, but ultimately, it’s a battle of wills and wits to make it out alive." -- 20th Century Studios
We have covered Set Decorator Rebecca Cohen’s work on gloriously beautiful and haunting beach scenes of the past...the exquisite THE LIGHT BETWEEN OCEANS [Director’s Chair interview with Derek Cianfrance] and the incredibly period-realistic yet quietly artful...and awful...1945 battle story of HACKSAW RIDGE [Film Decor 2016].
Now, we have a contemporary thriller set on a deserted island, and the sets must reflect both the danger and the evolving coping skills of the two survivors. Oh, and an increasing sense of paranoia, which could indeed be accurate! We can’t give anything away, after all, this is a terror/horror film, but here’s a glimpse of some of the sets...just remember, things are not always what they seem!
The Island...
Bradley’s camp, see photo above. The nepo baby who taunted his employee knows nothing of survival skills outside the corporate world.
Linda’s camp continuously develops as she becomes more and more comfortable about living on the Island, It’s a dream life for some, or is that a nightmare?
Linda’s camp. “This Hut represents one of the many stages of Linda’s survival capabilities on the island,” Rebecca notes, “Especially in contrast to Bradley’s lack of skills and deepening dependency.” The power shifts. “Civilization...”
Key sets in the corporate world include the Preston family’s multinational financial management company. Rebecca notes, “We used a dark masculine palette to contrast with island’s lush colorway, keeping to leathers and woods.”

Office of the CEO. Director Sam Raimi’s good friend Bruce Campbell often does a cameo in his movies. Here we see his portrait on the wall, as the Preston family patriarch & CEO of their company. [Top image in photo group above]
Bradley Preston’s office:
It is here where we see the nepo baby contradict his father’s wishes and cruelly tell Linda that he has appointed a frat brother to the position she was to be given. [Center image, above]
Linda’s workstation in the bullpen [Bottom image of the three]:
Rebecca notes, “We layered Linda’s workstation to reflect her time at the company. There are also photos and quotes on her desk that hint at her Survival passions.” The dowdy corporate strategist is more committed to developing survival techniques than improving her limited social skills.
The House...
“With the House, we wanted the connection to Thailand to be present,” Rebecca shares. ‘We did this with color palette, art and textures that reflect back into Thai culture. I also wanted to incorporate the natural vegetation of the island inside the home.”

We leave you with beauty and mystery...and maybe a bit of terror!
