On August 24, 2019, Los Angeles Center Studios opened their beautiful theater to host a panel discussion on fabrication for feature films. The day kicked off with a mixer for students and Set Decorators to sip coffee and enjoying morning snacks. Once inside the theater, each Set Decorator showed a trailer of their feature film then spoke for approximately 45 mins while sharing a slideshow.

Susan Benjamin opened the day with her film The Finest Hour. She shared with us many wonderful photos of the ship they replicated and all the set dressing required to bring it to life. Proof that Set Decoration isn't always about pretty interiors. What a fantastic job her team did. When I saw it, I thought it was a real ship!

Next up, Jan Pascale and her project The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas. This film was entirely fabricated; from furniture to smalls and everything in between. Imagine the freedom of make believe while maintaining the restrictions of a budget. What a tremendous task. Jan brought along with her the wedding cake topper of Fred and Wilma Flintstones that was featured in the film. A true delight!

On to Ellen Brill and her exquisite house in The House with a Clock in the Walls. Every little detail was beautifully showcased with all the clocks and time pieces. A fantasy world with luxurious finishing touches.

And last but not least, Rosemary Brandenburg's film Kingsman: The Golden Circle, filmed in London, showed the many responsibilities on the Set Decoration department. Nothing short of an incredible undertaking from furniture and lighting design, label designs, logos and more, all while executing spectacular sets. A true inspiration.

What a treat for all the students to sit in and learn from some of the top feature Set Decorators first hand. A very rare opportunity indeed. Thank you all who shared the day with us. A truly extraordinary experience.
